Doug Nash 5 Speed.......
I got a line this evening on a Nash 5 speed. I remember these things were popular in NHRA modified elimintor cars back in the 80's.
It's supposedly new in the box, never used.
What sort of moneyshould I pay?
There is NO shifter either. These things use the external type shifter, sorta like a top-loader uses.
Second quetion.
What would it take to do a change over to the 5 speed in my '84 FOX?

RE: Doug Nash 5 Speed.......
is it a 4+1..and you want to know the gear specs.....as a DD trans you will have alot of gear whine with the straight cut gears......so of these transmission didn't come with syncos and you would rake on every shift in a cruising situation

That's the tranny I've had in my '86 for yrs....5-spd, but no OD in 5th.......need:
1. Bellhousing
2. Tranny-bellhousing spacer
3. Shifter (recommend Hurst Comp Plus)
4. Yoke
Good thing about them, besides durability and ability to take punishment, is that a 3.73 rear gear ~ 4.30 in the 1-4 speeds...5th is a 1:1 ratio. They go for $2,300 nowadays under their current Richmond Gears brand.

Yep, I'm traveling about 180 miles come saturday to look at it, see if I can make a deal.
A widow has the thing and a Mopar friend of mine knows about all and it's the last thing he'd ever want.
Are the gear set's still out there for it?
Not thinking of any cruising situation at all as my 'stang is 100% race-car, trailer queen.
I just always thought it would be a kick-in-butt to race a manual trans after 30+ years of automatics. I like the idea of 5th NOT being OD, just 1:1......

Last real race car with a manual trans that I had was about 1973, things have changed a little since then.......

RE: Doug Nash 5 Speed.......
I have Richmond T56 six speed in my 91. I converted it over from an AOD to manual Trans. It cost me over $6000 to do this. The external shift linkage sucks to adjust. I had to cut out some of the metal on the hump to allow for range of motion. The shift fork bolt did not match what I needed so I had one fabbed up. The T-56 is awsome on power handling and there is no question that it was the best thing I ever put in the car. It is bulletproof bro.
