Default 2002 8.8 Rear convert to 4 lug

Can anyone tell me if this can be done? I can get ahold of a 2002 Mustang 8.8 rearend and it is a 5 lug disc rear. I wish to convert it to a 4 lug pattern and maintain the rear discs. Is this just a matter of locating some 4 lug 8.8 axles, shortening them to fit and popping them in? Or is this not possible and why?

Thanks for your help.

why would you do that? get new spindles for the front and you have 5 lugs all the way around makes life simpler and now you have more rims to choose from

Please don't pass judgement on my reasoning. All I ask for is help. Is this possible or not? If so, how?

Thanks for your help.

i believe your gunna have to buy a whole new disk set up for that your gunna spend more on changing the rear to 4 lug then getting new spindels for the front

your gonna need to ask the 4.6 section whether or not they are 28 or 31 spline axles, if they are 28 it will work, if not, yo gotta replace the differential

Can't 31 splines be custom made with 4 lugs? I'm sure it can. I have never worked on a rear end of a car before, that's why I question this.

really would end up being cheaper to redo the front to 5 lug
