^agree, factory motors (the few that are left) rolled off the assembly line with the intentions of being 87 octane cars, i run 14* timing and 89 octane, no pinging. To run 93 on a stock motor, stock timing, it's ineffiecent.
About a year ago, I put on new plugs and wires. I have a new MSD 6AL box laying around that I was going to put on. As fas as I know the timing is stock.
Yea, I'd verify the timing and look into cleaning IAC, TB, verify TPS voltage, and base idle. When you put the MSD 6AL in look into replace the distributor, or at least the cap and rotor. Good Luck, your timing may be advanced.
so is it bad if when i put my timing light on and it reads 20* and that is when it runs good, mind you the carb is rebuilt yet still needs to be adjusted do to giving to much gas
