my tires are brand new yokohoma avid h4's
they arent designed for snow
and i highly doubt u got anywhere with Nitto 555's. any tire designed to dispurse water is going to SUCK in the winter. snow tread is just flat, rigid, and square so it packs the snow rather than tryng to push it and cause hydroplaning

You should have looked into a tire like the Mastercraft AS-IV... MUCH better all season tire. I drove around all last winter on 275/40/17 sumitomo HTR+'s and i didnt get stuck once... but like i said before.. some people just suck at driving!

RE: first snow drive
Ive been driving rear wheel drive cars in the snow since I was 15.. the driver mod isnt the problem
The AOD is the problem (3.27's too), combined with poor tread design (like i said in my first post)
I'm thinkin Michellin X-Ice's..possibly studded

I did drive through half the winter on 555s. It was rough but i never lost control or anything. In deep snow it was impossible but more than half the time it was doable. Then I put Dunlop Winter Sports on the car and it was a total animal.
