Default PROBLEM WITH ALTERNATER

Ok I just put a new alternater on my 86 5.0 and a new battery as well. My alternater won't charge my battery for sum reason. I kno for a fact that its the alternater cuz i just checked to see if the battery was getting a charge from the alternater and there is no charge at all. The alternater is BRAND NEW . Wat could this be and wat should i check ?

what is your voltage gauge reading?

Are u talkin about the voltage regualtor thats mounted on the ALT or is there another 1 dats external that I should look for if there is an external 1 where should I look?

sounds like either a bad battery ground or defective alt.

I think there is an external regulator, I just don't remember where it is located, someone help us out.

+1 on what mattdel said about your grounds as well, make sure they are clean and tight, check the battery also with a load tester, at advance or autozone.

if there's an external voltage regulator, just follow the wires from the alternator to find it.

So The Alt could be defective even if its brand new i just got the ALT today. Also wat grounds should i check the battery ground and wat other grounds??
