Default Oil?

Well, since it runs so smooth, and leaks or burns no oil I wnt ahead and put in mobil 1 this time. I just can't get over how well the car runs with 150k on it. I'm guessing most of them would've had to have been highway miles. I've seen vehicles with 50k on themn run worse than this. I looked through the log in the manual and it never went past 3k between oil changes and it has all reciepts of any other repairs made to it. I figured if it was ran hard they'd at least would've put on flowmasters or something. It's just got two stock like mufflers from midas on it.

well first off if you run synthetic and yur gskes are old and about 2 leak it will make the leak 10 time worse. and you cant go back 2 normal oil if you go 2 synthetic oil. and dont use restore its useless. use the new lucas oil additive and when you oen the top and feel how sticky it is then you should understand. i use it and i just rbuilt my motor. lov every bit of it i dont worry about it at all. and the motor had 160,000 before the rebuild.

It's a myth.

You won't leak like a sive unless your gaskets are already shot.

You CAN ALWAYS go back to dino oil after using synthetic. The only difference is that one is out of the ground, and isn't totally pure. Synthetic is made in the lab, using the same base compounds and s**t as dino, but it doesn't have the silicone's, iron, ect.., that dino does. Synthetic also can withstand heat and more abuse better than dino oils can.

I won't comment on the Lucas, I've never used it. I don't believe miricals in a can exist, only crappy band aid fixes that usually cause more trouble down the road.

New to this site but thought I would comment on this oil thing as a start.. I have had great results with castrol gtx 20w50. As others have noted on this forum... This oil has less tendency to break down as quickly as the lighter oils and runs real clean.. with my cars and friends with over 300k on some of their engines castrol gtx has worked out the best and with frequent oil changes every 3k you dont have to worry about spending 5dollars/qrt. for synthetic...Dave.

Go look for an article about synthetic oils in Hot Rod magazine, it's about 5 pages long and answers a LOT of questions and shoots down tons of myths.

that 20-50 is good but a good synthectic shines on start ups on engine where wear occurs the most and doesn't break down as easy in hot conditions. if we all could afford oil primer pump 300k on an engine would be an everyday event

If a car is leaking oil, why would it have to do with the kind of oil.......... Wait I know! Synthetic oil is so powerful it eats though gaskets!!! LOL Run whatever you want but why waste the money for synthetic. Run 10w30 and save your money for when the motor blows, then when you start over you can run it on synthetic from the first 1000 miles.
