best year for fox?

it also deends on if you are going to keep the engine or put another in. if you want to do an engine swap just look at the body. if it is in good shape and it is a 4-banger just drop new engine in it. i would look for a car that has not been wrecked. the 90 models were the firt to come with airbags if that is a priority. i would look at cars made between 87-93.

here's the **** you really want to know.
speed density (faster stock, responds badly to mods) 87-88. i would try to avoid.
mass air 89-93. california 88's are also mass air
air bags 90-93 more weight.
forged pistons 87-92.
hypereutectic pistons 93 (slightly less durable, still can take a beating. i wouldnt pass up a good deal just because they have hypereutectics.)
coupe is lightest, most agressive looking
hatches weight a little more but some think look better and cleaner.
verts weight most, try to avoid these unless you really want a vert. less rigid body also.
gt hatch or vert will weight even more than their lx 5.0 counterpart and not have any more power
93 was rated at less, but it was due to a change in the horsepower rating system. they're just as powerful.
in my mind, the ideal car is an 89 coupe. light cause its a coupe with no airbags, and it's mass air.

RE: best year for fox?
Well I own a 91 GT and I love it... In fact 1987-92 are the years that made 225/300 93 made 205/275 and 94-95 had 240hp... Now, I go to thje track every Wednesday and Friday night here in SO CAL to LACR. Rarely do I see a 94-95GT hang with the fox body GT's, but sometimes one can suprise you. I love the 91 because I can have the luxury or electric windows, locks, mirrors, seats, etc. have my airbag, cruise control, T5 5-spd, 16inch Pony wheels, posi 3.08, A/C, and still make it run low low numbers at the track. Basically any 87-93 5.0 would be ideal, good luck with your search, I would greatly push getting an 87-93 as they reign king on the streets and at the track. Welcome to the forum.

Jugador, mabey this is why I heard the 89's were the best if i could find one. Thanks for the info. Stinger, that depends on a LOT of factors. grip, weight, gearing, aerodynamics, powerband, ect...
