best year for fox?

RE: best year for fox?
I've heard the 89 is the best because of the bolt ons. I have only seen one reason why myself. I looked in a parts magazine before I bought mine & oddly found some bolt ons just for 87-89 & some parts just for 89-93. So i figured I would look for an 89 & get the best of both parts. I'm sure you could make the parts fit on any 87-93. I'm not really a big fan of the 79-86 the looks & i've heard rumors about their block being weak. Not sure if its true.

Well Stay away from 88 and some 89 cars cause of speed density.but i would say a 90 to 92 is safe bet. 91 is first year when they started with 16 inch rims and 11 inch brakes. If you dont mind converting the speed denisty i would get a 87 Coupe, or any year coupe. They make the best race cars cause of wieght and the frames dont tweak as easy and hook and go. Good luck!

the 87's were the fastest fox's out. ford did the efi stuff rite the first time.when i got mine it was bone stock and i was beeting people that wood crap on 5.0s with exhausts and intakes on and stuff. everyone always said that my car was a factory freak and i thought so to.when i got my car dynoed with juss an intake, exhaust and pullies i got 211hp to the wheels and the guy at xxtuning said that 5.0s like mine never dynoed that much.the only down fall is that if u want to get deep into mods then u have to get a maf conversion kit but if u want to keep it practicly stock get an 87

yea i heard that before also about speed denisty.. but 211 is about right on hp with those mods. i made 198 with bone stock 91 GT vert. with no mods. So exhaust and intake should of gotten you 15 to the wheels.

Great question, depends though... Personally, I'd go with a '92, here's why:
If you're not getting it repainted, the 92 and 93 didn't have the off-color strip ding guard.
If you're leaving it stock, a 92 had 225 hp, whereas a 93 only had 205
If you're planning on modifying it a lot, the post-88 'stangs had mass airflow systems as opposed to speed density systems. the SD's made a little more power stock, but it is easier to get power out of a MAF
However, all in all, a Mustang is a Mustang is a Mustang. I'd take anything!
