Wesson or Canola is good. But I use Valvoline Maxlife 10w30. I don't get any real winters where I live though.

By the way, welcome to the forum. You may want to do a search, as there are lots of existing threads on that very topic.

You never really need high mileage oil. I just bought into the whole idea of a high quality oil with added detergents and seal conditioners. You have to decide for yourself whether you too buy into it. Truthfully, any quality 10w30 will serve you well, as long as it's changed often--synthetic or crude...in my opinion.

Also, by unmolested, I don't know whether or not you are implying that the car has low miles. It's funny, the low mileage cars are usually the ones that have issues with leaks and oil burning, due to the drying out of internal seals. So in that case, I'd use a high mileage oil if the car has sat most of it's life. Again, just my opinion.

So you're a believer in Lucas, huh? What made you start using it? I almost bought into it, but read an article once where they demonstrated how that stuff foams up when subjected to high shearing forces. I don't understand how 100% petroleum (which is what Lucas is, I believe) would foam up, but didn't want to take any chances, regardless. Do you think it really helps?
