well the dss is just a production 302 block, the R and the dart are aftermarket blocks with 4 bolt mains making them stronger

DSS uses stock blocks .......... unless you get their "XR" engine, then they use a Dart block

Dart Iron Eagle is strongest, but most expensive

R302 is Ford's 4 bolt block, good block

new "Boss 302" block from Ford is supposed to come out any time now
and be as good as the R302 for less money.

or you can always do what I did and swap in a 351W,
MUCH stronger block than the production 302 block.

the D.S.S. can come with a main support system, which ties all the mains together, which is stronger than a 4 bolt main. But the truth is the D.S.S. is a stock block, and will run out of umph at around 550. The dart and the R302 have stronger blocks if setup right, those would be better, but for what your looking to run and for the price, go with a D.S.S..

tieing all the 2 bolt mains together will not make it stronger than a block with 4 bolt mains...

thats about right for an R302

saw prices listed of like $1500 for the new Boss302, but who knows when they come available.

R302 is good for 700+hp, you'll be fine with it.
347 stroker with 10psi intercooled turbo will put down close to 600rwhp.

all a main support system does is hold the internals together once the motor splits
