So my question is.... If i buy an aftermarket harmonic balancer because my car is vibrating, how do i get the balance correct? the one i am looking to buy from summit racing says it comes with bolt on counter weights for neutral balance? what the hell does that mean? anyone out there swap out their balancers? and if so, what did you do???????

 

I don't know how much Im going to help you but I had my replace I did'nt get a fancy one just a replacement from bennet and I did'nt have to balance it or do any modification just install it

cheap and easy...good for most mild combo's..

 

your motor is externaly 50z balance thats what you need, spend the money or a rattler TCI it will never fail.

 

neautral balancers i think ya can change weights..i bought a professional products balancer good too 8000rpms i think...since ill never come close to that i got it..was like 110.00 if i remember...

 

Hey HATCH what was your car doing when you had to change your balancer? how did you come to the conclusion? cuz mine vibrates and i dont know what the hell to do.....

 

see if there is any play in your balancer. how many miles on you car?

 

i just swapped my motor from my blown 95 to a used 88 with around 90k on it ....there is no play at all on the balancer...i used the one from my 95 as well as my flywheel .....so yea...

 

you didnt by chance modify the fly wheel at all did you?

one of our more... "entally lacking" members made the holes larger on his flex plate to install it... which then shifted the weight out of place...'

just make sure you didnt do anything stupid

 

No i didnt do anything to the flywheel, but i did bend the flexplate a little...would that do it?
