The special valve only lets a little bit out. You just need to crack the valve not let out a ton. driveability technicians have used it for decades. you can even put it in the intake to see if the car actually has a vaccum leak. If you stick it in the intake and the idle smooths out your running lean and its got a vaccum leak, if it startts spitting out black smoke and runnin ****ty then its running rich and probably has a fuel problem.
