I put a new short belt on to bypass the ac/smog and I also replaced a vacuum hose and now the engine surges up and down at idle... I sure it's not the short belt but the vacuum hose. Does this sound like a symptom of vacuum leak?

At first I thought It was because the smog pump is not spinning.

At first I tried the 805k6 but could not get it to work, then tried 817k6 and it was a little hard to on but works perfect...except for the idle issue now [:@]

it could be because the smog pump isnt turning, i havnt heard of a case where you felt it, but in theory, instead of air pumped through the line, exhaust would push into it, then fill up and clog, and release, so a constant change in back pressure would cause the idle thing

Has anyone had this happen to them? Well I wiggled the hose a little and let it run and now it idles normal. Smells really really rich now!

I would like to change the whole hose but it goes under intake... It looks like I may have to take the whole intake off to replace the hose...Or is there any tricks??
