What carb setup/parts to use?

RE: What carb setup/parts to use?
what about stepping up to a 650cfm? There is one local for cheap.
thanks
and I'm not looking for a big power gain, just trying to simplify things. I'd like 300whp NA and 400+ on spray.

you can do one of them too i have heard they are fine but the 600 is more ideal and they make new digital dizzy's that go perfect when you want to go from efi to carb

irecommend first time out oncarb set up.go with edelbrock and a rrpm edelbrock intake..holley is a lil better performance usually, but edelbrock has 2 screws to tune it with air mixture screws and thats it...holly is a lil more tempermental...after ya get used to carb tuning with a edelbrock go holly,demon... and a 600 is plentyunless ya wanna do a mild build..cam,intake,carb,exhaust..go with a 650 if ya have headsalso on street,750 for strip if ya use edelbrock..i have a 600 on street and a 750 on strip..thats what edelbrock recommends for strip is a 750 with there HCI..folks need to remember edelbrocks are not like hollys...there built diff....if ya use a holley try a 650 no bigger...most time there are exception depending on what ya have..

The airgap intake wont be enough for your heads, if youve got the edelbrock victor heads, DO NOT USE THE AIR GAP. The runners are WAY too small, and so is the 600. You should get an edelbrock victor jr. intake and at least a 650 double pumper. That right there will wake your motor up like nobodies business. My intake is the equivalent of the airgap, its fine with gt-40's but your edelbrock heads have way bigger intake runners, the airgap just wont flow enough to utilize your heads to their potential. I runa holley 650 double pumper, and its just right for my setup. Im thinkin youll need something along the lines of 650-700. A bone stock 302 runs perfect witha 600 (580 is ideal), so obviously a 600 on your motor will actually be its bottleneck.
As for carbs, I like holleys, but like someone else said they can be tempermental. I set mine years ago and havent messed with it since. Another thing I noticed is that your cam, IMO doesnt have enough duration. Carbs LOVE duration they make TONS of power with it. Only down side is that they have a poor vacuum signal @ idle, so you might have some stalling issues under REALLY heavy braking. And youll have to idle at something around 1k, but itll sound mean as hell, youll notice most people wont wanna race you. .

he said he had performer heads not vic..there used in edelbrock rpm,air gat set ups.....rpm,and air gap same thing except1 has a area under plenum...and they match perfectto the performer heads..vic jrs are a diff story...but he has performers...so id say a 650 edelbrock thunder series...or a 600-1405 series...im not sure you can use 5.0 heads with pedistal mounts on a carb 302 set up...i heard the intake for carb wont fit right...i allways thought they were same..but im not 100% sure...check with jegs and see..1800-345-4545..//summit racing 1800-230-3030
