Default Got a tech ?

Hows it going guys and gals, im from the V6 section mostly. Got a question that u all will be more likely to be able to answer.

Ok iv got a 2002 3.8L Mustang Auto. Iv got available to me a 1976 F100, the guy says there is a 351 windsor in it.
Now my better mind tells me that its not actually a 1976 351 windsor. But if it is will it fit in my car, im sure Tranny will have to be changed, but what about engine mounting brackets?

Another thing how much roughly would it cost to rebuild a 351, and whats the oldest year windsor that will fit in her.

Thanks fellas, i love my v6 but 351 just has a catch to it, lol

351w in a 2002 is gonna be a nice trick... you should check with a local mechanic on the inspection/emissions laws in your area.. you may find that its not worth doing.

You WILL have to convert to a stand alone engine managment unit, you WILL have to change your front k-member, you WILL have to change your transmission crossmember...

and you would be better off buying a fox and starting from there!

K-member: the front section of subframe that the motor bolts to. You will need to either source a stock one from a 94-95 5.0 OR get an aftermarket one for a 94-95 5.0

transmission crossmember: same deal as the engine K-member... it bolts to the bottom of the tranny and holds it to the frame

I really think you should avoid trying to do this swap, I'm not saying your not capable, but with your "limited" knowledge of the needed steps to complete such a job... I would really recommend NOT doing it!

Do yourself a big favor and forget about the swap. Just build up the V6; they can be made to really scoot.
