If those tri state heads are the GT 40 explorer heads.. stay away from them. Plus if you get the gt40 explorer heads, you have to get special headers and theyre F'n expensive.. the money you have to come up with is not equal to the power you will get.

The gt40 heads you can use any header with, its the gt40P head you have to get specific header for. I got MAC headers for my P heads for 180 brandnew shipped.

Ebay, Search around, i think you can get some heads just as good or not better for cheaper than the ones your lookin at.

well i dont want to get new headars i just spent 750 on exhaust im not about to buy new headers. How much hp gain would i get from those heads?? the ones from tri state.

Kindof hard to tell with it not put up against other heads. I know theres a flow chart floatin around here somewhere, it might be a sticky. I'll see if i can find it.

i cant get heads with big valves because im using my stock pistons and i dont want to have to flycut them. i want something that works with what i have. Also that place is a machine shop so i can get those heads modified. What would you change on those heads???

Right, GT40 explorer heads are the GT40 P heads, that's what I meant.

289-302-351W engines
1.94/1.60 Stainless Undercut Valves
190cc Intake Runners
60cc Combustion Chambers
Springs Good To .550” Hyd. Roller
3/8” Screw-In Studs & Guide Plates

with an E cam, you shouldnt have to flycut them. Stock pistons have valve reliefs and should accomidate to bigger valves. Youd run into a problem with a Z or even F cam, most likely. You'd have to do a clay test to know for sure though.
