Default X Pipe or Not

Just i cuple of weeks ago i put in SLP LM 2's and i was talking to my friend and i asked to do cold air or triple pod A pillar gauges. He said forget that and do a X-Pipe so i can get rid of two of the cats and get more power. Is that a good idea?

Sounds good as long as you don't have to deal with emissions.

Well yea lol, but the only reason i say guages is that my mom basically baught the car for me and she would rather see stuff that doesn't add power. But she would also be ok with me getting racing seats, roll bar and harnesses being that it is an 89 and has no air bags, but is the X-Pipe worth doing? And will hit hurt the emissons getting it?

yes, do a full exhaust (headers and H or X pipe) get the catted ones if emissions is an issue, and get that CAI too (or a K&N panel filter and remove the air silencer), those are nice little starting mods that'll wake it up a bit. gauges are pretty much useless for you now, kind of a waste IMO.

You can get a high flow catted pipe. If you have emissions you could easily fail without cats, visually for sure. Also tell your mom the high flow catted pipe will help out the gas mileage, the car can breath better.
