Default I Run 93 Octane Is It Just As Good To Use 87?

Well i have an 88 Gt with the mods below. I pay 1.99 a gallon for gas now can i get the chaper 87 and still be good?

you can use 87 as long as you dont have a higher compression ratio. you also have to set the timin to about 12* max

I don't see any real mods so 87 or 89 with 14 degree timing should be good to go

if it pings, just drop the timing back a degree or two until it don't ping anymore.

just don't be surprised if the power drops off a bit and the timing lands up below the stock 10 degrees BTDC since the '88 5.0 spec was to run 93 octane at 10 degrees timing.

hmmm well i prob still will put in 93 anyways whats a few cents a gallon more. Well off to bigger and better things.

My 89 GT's manual says to run 89 octane. 93 won't benefit you any unless you need to run higher octane gas to avoid knock.
