tried welding torque boxes
i got the arms off one side tonight and was going to weld the torque box seams. i can't weld worth a crap so i'm going to buy the bolt on reinforcements. years ago i welded up the frame on my truck and it was cake. this time i just couldnt do it. tight space. thin metal. on another note, the tool i bought from maximum motorsports to remove the axle bushing end of the upper arms worked awesome.
Yeah, that thin stuuf can be a bish. I had a shop do mine over here and they re-ripped out in a year. turns out, he didnt weld all the way, just part of the way. Asses.... Anyhow, you can just bolt em in, and they should work good for now. I would find a friend of yours that know to weld(not dissing your welding skills buddy) the thinner stuff to secure em in good and tight.
Cant you just drill holes for bolts in the ones you have now? It seems to me like that might be the only difference between weld on and bolt on (holes). You can always get the bolt on ones welded later on.
yeah i think i'll be ok for the time being. i don't have tons of horsepower and the boxes are still strong. the bolt on ones you don't have to remove the arms to put the bolt on ones in and you can weld them at some point.
