I hook up the scan tool but the computer wont put out codes not even a pass code and the scanner is fine. Any specific reasons whythe computer wouldnt put out any codes?

I dont know shat about mustang computers any ideas where to start diagnosing the computer.

 

well see, there inlyes the problem. its impossible to positively identify a bad computer. only thing to do is rule out everything else, then replace computer.

 

Can a good scanner like a snap-on for the obd-1 system tell me where my problem is or are the obd-1 systems not that specific?

 

well, the problem your having is communication. if the computer won't go into self test mode, that means its locked in another test mode from long ago, or it could have created its own test and locked itself in it. i've seen it numerous times on older chryslers. snapon scanner will most likely produce the same results, although i believe it's also capable of re-setting the mode.
