Rearend question
I know I'm going to get at least one person who says "use the search button" and my response to that is - I did...and after reading for an hour and a half - and not finding my answer....I decided to post my question. I have an 87 LX and I'mre-doing the entire suspension and a little bit of the drivetrain. I wan't do an 8.8 rear, but I'm a little confused on the subject. I have seen prices ranging from $250 - $2000. Is it possible to get the rear I need from another car at a junkyard or do I have to go aftermarket? Also, Right now I have a 2.3l beast under the hood and I don't plan on going 5.0 probably for another year but I want to ugrade to an aluminum driveshaft that I could put in with the 8.8/2.3 combo, and keep it when I go 5.0. And one more question, I have the setup to go 5-Lug using the Ranger axles...does this still work with the 8.8? Any help appreciated.

EDIT...link didn't work, try this
http://cjponyparts.com Go there, click shop online, and enter part number M4006B373
There is a good price for a complete new rear with 3.73 and traction loc set upminus axles. To do the ranger 5 lug, you will need to driver side axles, but it will work with that rear end.

RE: Rearend question
An 8.8 was installed in all GTs from at least 84-04 (except some Cobras) I think and possibly earlier. They should bolt right in and yes the ranger swap still works. Hopefully someone else will chime in on the years that'll bolt in. I think the 94+ are a tad wider but I'm not sure on that one.

RE: Rearend question
Order an aluminum driveshaft for a 87-93 mustang, the new axle location will be the same dist. from tranny (as these model years), so driveshaft will be the correct length for your 8.8"[8D]
