need help!
I was on the way home yesterday and was about to turn in when the car died. I thought it was the fuel pump because I didn't hear it prime up. I looked at the inertia switch and that wasn't it. I replace the fuel pump today and nothting. I put the car in the on position I get a click and that's it. I was thinking no that I should look at the fuel pump relay or a link. I did see one that looks a little questionable. Does anyone know where the fuel pump relay is located? Any other idea's would be helpful too.

RE: need help!
It's an 88. I remember now that the owner told me something about it sometimes it not wanting to start and that there was something under the seat. I went out and looked at it and nothing. I don't remember what I did with my volt meter so that I could check the resistance on the relay.

You should get 12v at the red/black wire with the key on. That's the one that trips the relay. If not, check for 12v at the inertia switch. If the relay pulls in, it should send 12v to the pink/black wire which runs to the pump. Here's the diagram I'm looking at. http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/te...nks-ign-ac.gif

I will try that tomorrow and see what happens. I think that I just going to replace the relay and the switch. I was looking at one of the links (18 guage looks brown and goes to a green with red strip). the insulation was soft and the wire was showing but intact don't know if that maybe something else that I have to look at.

I think that I just going to replace it because there has been times where i would have just got home and go out to leave again and the interia switch had tripped. I'm going to replace that and the relay under the seat even though it read 0.06v. I don't think that .06 really means that it's bad but I'm going to replace it anyway.

RE: need help!
Thanks for the help. I took my fuel pump relay over to a friend of mine to see what he thought. He told me that the relay was fried. I bought a new one and sure enough that was it. Thanks again for the help.

RE: need help!
check over your fuel pump wiring, and make sure its not rubbing on nothing.
I replaced all relays that contribute to the car running, just because of the corrosion I noticed on the teminals and used dielectric grease on all of my connections , ignition switch and module.
Also checked over all grounds (resistance to ground) and found 4 bad ones showing too much resistance.
Alot of things can contribute to a fried relay, bad ECM and poor performance, this is one car where I beleive the word tuneup means alot more than plugs and wires.
If that was not enough, a spare weekend i checked EVERY SINGLE WIRE FROM THE ECM TERMINAL TO THIER COMPONENT RESISTANCE. ALL ZEROED OUT, THANK GOODNESS
