problem solved!
its not too bad, you need a 7/16" wrench to take the fan out, 7/16" again to remove the shroud, 15/16" socket preferably on an impact gun to remove the big bolt in the center of the balancer, and an 8mm allen wrench(hex key) to remove the crank pulley. also you need a balancer puller, can be bought at autozone. i did the whole thing in less than an hour, but i'm a tech.... so yah... lol

Glad you got all your issues worked out. I've never heard of the pintle shaving thing. Please tell me more about it.

Thus, allowing the pintle to fully extend without blockage. Cheap way of getting around replacing the EGR.

i have a bad idle also and i have checked and cleaned everything, putting a new balancer corrected your bad idle? and how exactly do you do the balancer?

its a small round piece of steel, about an inch long. about the same width as a small drill bit. it pushes in and out of the egr valve position sensor. the egr valve movement pushes on the pintle.
ok i remember the pintle now when i cleaned my egr it tryed cleaning it with it inside but there was still crap on it. so i can take it out and clean it up? the blancer sounds pretty easy. easier cuz i have an elctric fan and no shroud.

i scanned for codes, and received an EVP(egr valve position sensor) code, i forget which one, but it was saying that it was open when it should be closed. carbon buildup inside the EGR will cause the pintle on the sensor to get pushed in, sensing EGR movement, when actually there isn't. i took it out(3 nuts, 11/32's) unplugged the wiring, grabbed the pintle lightly with vice grips so it wouldn't move, and walked over to the bench grinder, and just barely took a little bit off. i also ran the edges off, so it wouldn't be sharp.
