its not too bad, you need a 7/16" wrench to take the fan out, 7/16" again to remove the shroud, 15/16" socket preferably on an impact gun to remove the big bolt in the center of the balancer, and an 8mm allen wrench(hex key) to remove the crank pulley. also you need a balancer puller, can be bought at autozone. i did the whole thing in less than an hour, but i'm a tech.... so yah... lol

I'm no tech, but I did the whole thing in just over an hour. It's not hard at all. So Mattdel, are you gonna tell me about thepintle shaving?

Glad you got all your issues worked out. I've never heard of the pintle shaving thing. Please tell me more about it.
i scanned for codes, and received an EVP(egr valve position sensor) code, i forget which one, but it was saying that it was open when it should be closed. carbon buildup inside the EGR will cause the pintle on the sensor to get pushed in, sensing EGR movement, when actually there isn't. i took it out(3 nuts, 11/32's) unplugged the wiring, grabbed the pintle lightly with vice grips so it wouldn't move, and walked over to the bench grinder, and just barely took a little bit off. i also ran the edges off, so it wouldn't be sharp.

Thus, allowing the pintle to fully extend without blockage. Cheap way of getting around replacing the EGR.

no.. the EVP solved the idle, the balancer took care of the shaking, and hard shifts.

its a small round piece of steel, about an inch long. about the same width as a small drill bit. it pushes in and out of the egr valve position sensor. the egr valve movement pushes on the pintle.

Ah, now I understand. Thanks for the explanation.
