Do you prefer an Auto or a Manual Transmission?

RE: Do you prefer an Auto or a Manual Transmission?
Hey SSKiller,
For a street car I say...Manual...
For a drag car I say Auto with a Tranny brake...
I had a well built auto in my Monte Carlo(I know a Chevy--long time ago)...and it was great at the drags, but boring as hell on the street.
On an unrelated matter...took your advice and got rid of the Powerdyne...now will be Vortech equipped...

I have plenty of fun with my AOD, you'll never find me swapping in any kind of a manual into my foxes. This battle between automatics and manuals will never die. But as long as people are saying that automatics are for little girls that are afraid to shift, well I'll just let them keep thinking that. I raced a 98 cobra a while ago (t-45 tranny) first run we were even, second run I got him by a few lengths. After the second race we talked for a little bit and the first words out of his mouth were "I can't believe I got beat by an automatic".

Well both have their ups and downs, manuals don't loose as much power to the rear wheels as autos do, and they're fairly cheap to mod, however, autos are a godsend intraffic, and are much easier on the car, especially when racing. Only problem is most people can barely afford to do a clutch swap in their manual, none the less be able to afford a higher stall converter, shift kit, and all the other needed essentials to turn it into a bad *** tranny.
As stated earlier
Street Performance - Manual
Track Performance - Auto

A built auto will usually, not always, beat a manual at the track just b/c of driver error or the time it takes to shift. That being said, I love my T5 and would never change it. I looked for a manual mustang when I got mine...I didn't want an auto. I live in Dallas and deal w/ stop-n-go traffic and still wouldn't take an auto.

Watch out about the age. 48. I can teach you young bucks a thing or two. HA HA!!!
I wouldn't have anything but a manual tranny.
Take a look at the latest issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords. They put aC-4 against a Five-Speed. Guess who took the big cookie????? FIVE-SPEED Interesting article!!!!!!!!

Im 18 and right now and i would prefer a C4 over 5 speed. Right now my car has a tremic in it with a stock motor but suspension, rear end and bolt ons. And as soon as i put the heads cam and intake on i know the 5 speed will be hurting my times especially with spray. Im deffinatly going to be swapping in a built C4 sometime soon with a full manuel valve body and matched stall to whichever cam i go with, its still up in the air. But C4 gets my vote.
