Default high idle

before i cleaned my iac when i was in gear at a stop light it felt like it had a slight miss. so i took it off cleaned it and after for a couple days it ran smooth no problems. now after that when i start the car the idle goes up to about 1500 rpms then drops to about 1000 and everything is fine. then when i put it in gear it feels like it wants to just get up and go like if its to high. i usually drive 7 miles a day and when i get to my destination wheni put my car in park the idle jumps to 1500 when it normally should be around 900 or so. so my questioncould it be that the iac is messed up or maybe dirty again. or what can this be? if you dont understand let me know i can try and explain it better. BTW my car is automatic. thnx in advance.

if ive said it once, ive said it a thousand times... Dont just clean it, replace it...

If you had a broken arm... would you just slap a band-aid on it and call it a day?

Adders reply wasnt sarcastic at all. He's suggesting that you buy a new IAC. Then he used a broken arm situation to put things into perspective for the uneducated.

by the way, I DID clean mine. Ha ha ha. APPEARS to be doing better but I plan to replace it as that is the right thing to do in the end. How much are these things new?

Suggestion.....
Do a base idle reset, with IAC disconnected to 650 rpms, clear codes, reconnect IAC....and let the system "learn".....it's normal for the system to raise the idle (compensate) when it sees tranny is in gear......+ it usually takes a couple of days of normal driving for the system to "learn" idle...
