the FI 5.0's have a cold and warm setting. in the morning my car will sit at 1k rpm's for a good 20 seconds then drop down to 800. thats when she is ready to go.

takes about 5 minutes for the needle to start moving. i have to go up hills so i get on the gas a bit but not enough to bog it.

10 miles too warm up seems a bit to long to me...thats like 16KM...my old f250 with 302 would have melted the ice from my windows before i got that far...i'm betting the spring in your thermostat is not closing it fully.
