Lookie here
Just got done looking at he results from NHRA U.S. Nationals from Indy.
E/FI class winner--'95 Cobra 11.367E.T.
F/FI class winner--fox body type--'89---11.747E.T.
G/FI class winner--fox body type--12.065E.T.
H/FI class winner--fox body type--12.514E.T.
Sooo, when we thinking of trying to run 13's, think about these folks. These are NHRA 'stockers' true but they are restricted to stock lift cams, stock heads etc....

RE: Lookie here
I raced in NHRA stock eliminator back in the late 70's. I know that a lot ha changed since then but I would love to be a 'fly on the wall' around some of those shops that these cars are coming from.

Just goes to show what a little blueprinting and balancing along with a "cheater cam" can do along with some suspension mods and good slicks. it's just too bad that a good NHRA stocker motor can cost so damn much though, I've heard numbers in excess of $10,000 to build one.

yeah, some people just can't seem to appreciate the time and effort it takes to extract the last little bit of power out of a stock application through hard work and fine tuning the various parts. this younger generation was raised to expect "instant gratification" and that's too bad![:@]

I can really concur with you on the 'instant gratification' thing. I'm sure that some of the more exotic stocker type motors are OVER 10K to build. Examples could be 440-6bbl mopars and of course the Hemi's. If you go down in the classes to about to about F/SA and lower the exotic stuff is gone but they can be still quite high $$$.
Several years ago a friend of mine that worked at the parts counter of a large Mopar dealer thought he was going stock eliminator racing with a 360 Volare type car. It took about $15 in the whole operation just to run index. At Indy you had to be 1.200 or so under just to qualify. There was about 50+ cars that couldn't quailify!! Some were heavy hitters too....

yes, that's true and what's really sad is they don't run for any big purse money either, if it won't for the contingencies, it wouldn't be worth the tow to go there except the pride in being able to say you won class at Indy or better yet, won the Stock Eliminator.
