Default tranny issues

Ok heres the deal. The mustang im looking to pick up has some tranny issues. He wants 3,200 for it. It has a rebuilt motor with 20k new water pump, alt, cam, and headers, exhaust , cai, all the good stuff. He said the only issue is that tranny pops outta reverse. So is that really a big issue or is it somthing a rebuild can fix? How much would it run me? thanks dane

requires a minor rebuild, but no better time to do the whole thing. a guy on here will do it for $100. you pay shipping back and forth. he'll chime in here eventually.

Na its not that big of a deal.....It wouldnt hurt to get rebuild it. A kit costs around $250 or so.

Thats a good deal, if it pops out only in reverse just hold it in gear.

thats not to bad, althouhg i prob wont be able to do the work myself. I dont have a lift so getting the tranny out could be a prob, I guess ill just have to pay for it. O well you win some you loose some, but then again i can always get a new clutch out in while its there.

not that good of an idea. reverse is geared much lower, usually when they pop out, they slam out. my friend broke his wrist from a 'pop-out' of reverse.

you should see if he would go down a lil because of it. 3200 for a car with a tranny issue right off the bat is a lil high imo.

yeah i hope it is. He said it has a saleen wing on the back, i hope it dont look too dumb. He also didnt have any pictures of it, so all i know i can be taking a trip to go look at a rusty thing. Atleast its a quick rusty thing.

- he ima try to get it down to about 2,800 or 3. But he did alot of stuff to it, but i dont really know much about aftermarket and resale.
