Default Do I need Adjustable Clutch Quadrant/Firewall

Do I need Adjustable Clutch Quadrant and Firewall adjuster. I will be installing a new Centerforce DFX Clutch with King Cobra Pressure Plate...supposedly good for 600 crank horse..according to Astro Performance...

Why would I want to change the stock self adjusting set up...I am confused...My assembly worked awesome..before I took it all apart...The clutch cable and pedal worked great..

Thanks

yes definately get it! its well worth your investment. the stock plastick quadrants have a tendency to break, and the new ones wont break. also you want to be able to adjust your clutch after breakin so the firewall adjuster will help you with that. it is worth the $70 to buy them in insure your investment.

stock setup isn't self adjusting, you have to do it yourself. you push the clutch all the way down then pull it back out slowly, as far as you can, and it should click a couple times. done.

the stock setup is self adjusting, but that whole setup tends to break and is not reliable. therefore you should get a new quality quadrant made out of billitaluminum that wont break, and get andfirewall adjuster. also the firewalladjusteris moreadjustable than the stock setup. hopefully this helps.
you dont necessarily need* it but i would strongly suggest it with your cluthc upgrade.

I can pull my clutch pedal/lever up like an inch or so..meaning it is kind of loose...there is about an inch or two of play at the top...does that mean it is out of adjustment or is that play normal in the pedal set up?

Mine doesn't have that kind of play in it... I went w/ the Steeda quadrant kit. The stock piece works fine for a while, but w/ age, or w/ upgraded clutch kits, the plastic teeth can sheer off and cause mis-adjustment or improper engagement. The billet quadrant itself is not adjustable unless it has more than one set of hooks on it, but you can get an adjustable cable or, even better, get a kit w/ the firewall adjuster. The firewall adjuster allows you to take out some slack (or put some back in) from the engine bay side of the firewall and only takes a minute or 2.
