Default Bad choice ??? how can i fix it

Alright i ahve a 92 gt vert and its automatic. I'm sick of it being so slow so my plans were to buy a 410 gear , lose some weight, and get a torque converter. " dont go less than 3000 stall"is what i heard a million times.I went out and bought a TCI streetfighter lock up3000 stall torque converter.
I now have the gear, TC,and tranny coolersitting in the garage n i'm finding forums saying how 3000 is too much because my cruise rpms will be below 3000 and it will slip alot ... is the slipping going to be ok or should i get a second tranny cooler if thats even possible???I'd like to get a manual valve body would that help me stay in my powerband longer , or do i need to go and get a better HCI set up right now i'm stock.

with a vert i think you gotta lose a lot of weight as they weigh more to begin with...all tha extra reinforcment due to no roof...

Lockup is OK......a regular stall does not lockup until its stall speed so you are not getting any HP to the ground and heating up the tranny.

There are several places to call to get the right setup for your car and tell them what you are going to do to it to get the right application. If I rember its edge racing or something like that. These guys on here swear by it and a few other places as well.

1st, is the converter opened or still in the box? If it's not opened, you should be able to return it for the correct one (assuming it turns out to be too much stall).

2nd, do a little more research to find out what will be best for your application. I wish I could help you more, but I don't know much about auto's and converters. Manual FTW!!!!!!

u must have a real fun time trying to hook with that converter and gear. i think i've decided on getting the 410 put in and then holding out on the converter til next winter when i'll b able to afford a heads cam intake set up (hopefully). Then my powerband should match the converter. But yea i'm guessing if i was to have put the gears / converter in and then got some kinda drag radial i'd break into the 13's and then my car would need a 6 point bar so hopfully with just the 410's andthese bbkshorty headers i just picked up i'll stay in the 14's... tho i couldnt say i'd b upset with cracking into the 13's... right now my car has ran a best of 15.02 my first time at the track and 15.07 the second time. I hope the gain of .05 was a miture of me gaining 20 lbs and track conditions
