no that set up should be fine. i have Weld 15x8 wheels 5.5 backspace and 275/50/15s on my 85GT.

sorry no pics of them on the 85. but they look similar to the way they do on my red GT...

here you can see how they tuck under nicely and dont stick out.

LIfting wheels is a negative response to acceleration. You want to go forward and not UP. Forward means speed and going up means speed in the wrong direction and having to spend energy getting it back down.

The fastest machines in the world (top fuel dragsters) spend time making sure they dont not have wheel lift. It only looks cool but nothing for ET......
