Newbie here...need engine mod help please
First off Hello everyone and sorry if I come off as a complete newbie. I've tried searching but having trouble. I would like to get the most out of my engine, my goal is 300hp n/a at least, and here's what I got so far:
1989 gt
stock 302 block (which needs new internals except the crank)
cast iron gt40 heads(currently getting a valve job)
cobra upper and lower intake with cobra throttle body
b303 cam
cold air intake (fenderwell)
full exhaust
t-45 5spd tranny
3.73 gears
So...I would like some advice on boring the engine upto a 306 or keeping it a 302, roller rockers(1.6 or 1.7 and what brand) valvesprings and what my engine needs to be albe to stand 450ish hp because I would like to add a 6-8 psi supercharger inthe future. I know good parts aren't cheap but I've gotten good deals on everything listed. What have you guys done to your engines and what horsepower do you guys have??? Thanks in advance
Eric

i agree, stroker that biotch. and id get the heads and intake all ported to eachother, wont hurt thats for sure. as for the 302 vs 306, very minimal gains, really most that are 306s are just because of rebuilds, not for a performance gain

I dont think boring the engine is worth the cost. A nice stroker kit would make it very easy to hit your 300 goal. You can do it with the GT-40 heads and cobra intake, but itsgonna take port work for both of them(if you dont go stroker).
