Just wondering on some engine suggestions. Want to spice up my stang. Currently have flowmaster exhuast, hedmen hedders, pulley set, & cold air intake. I'm in the process of pulling out the engine to detail the engine compartment. Figure while its out may as well do some mods to it. Its an 89 gt cobra, engine has 75000 kms on it. Wondering about a cam. Was told rolleer rockers are the way to go. I'm planning on runing it this summer if I can make time. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

i will assume u are from canada by the way u are typing, but u have to be a little more specific do u want a nasty car or just someting to have fun in
a fun car i would go with a tf stage 1 cam or a e303
a nasty car go with a high duration and lift cam like the x303 cam
then u are gonna want heads cause ur stock one wont do the job unless u port em out a lot, but if u go and get some cheap gt40's from an explorer and the intake to go with it, then port those heads out u will have a great setp, or you could go aluminum if u got the money, and ur best and most expesnive bet would be afr, trick flow, and canfields

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I want the nasty car but just had a little guy, this is going to be our hotrod. So moneys kinda tighyt. You would go with the Ecam? I was also told to go with theB cam. Which do you think is better? Alsowhat year Explorer had the gt-40 or did all 8's have it? There hard to find up here inNS. Would 373's or 355's be a bettter all around gear? Thanks.

Is it a 5spd or a Auto? Personally, if it were either I would go with 3.73's.... they will make a huge difference especially if your running 2.73's.

Also, I had to ask.... why are you pulling the motor just to detail the bay area? Spray tons of degreaser, let it sit and powerwash that sh*t off! No need to pull the motor...

Like Blue said, gears will be your best bang-4-the-buck performance mod.

Are you still running the stock H? If you don't have emissions testing, swap it out w/ an O/R H or X. If you do, get a pipe w/ Hi Flow cats on it, 2.5". The stocker will choke the life out of your car.

As for your rebuild, get a set of GT40 heads. I actually like the P's better, but you'll have to buy new headers w/ them, whereas your Heddman's will work w/ the GT40's. You'll want at least the GT40's if you put in a cam. I'm running the E cam w/ ported E7's (stock), but I would go GT40's or P's w/ the stage 1 if I were to do it over.

It is a 5 spd with stock gears. Its got 2.5" flowmaster complete. I'm pulling the engine because it needs a clutch & some rust I want to sandblast(East coast salt water). There's no emissions testing here. So you think the E cam is a better choice than B cam( I was told to go with the B cam by some guys).

definitely I'd go with the e cam, and the 3.73 gears, as thats what I'm runnin on my 88, had the 2.73's swapped in 3.73's muad a huge friggin difference only lost about 30 miles on a tank and picked up about 500 rpms at 60 mph great cruising gear, since you got the stick you'll lose a bit of first gear if the tranny is stock, most guys pull out in second with 3.73's

P.S. I cna get you a set of 3.73's used but in great shape for about 40 bucks plus shipping if interested, pm me and let me know.
