What do i have?

i have an 89 lx coupe how can i tell what type of tranny i have so that i can see which shifter to buy

Chances are if you have a clutch pedal, you have a manual.

also what is the best shifter for my coupe.....its has a 302 with cold air and a cobra intake bolted to a crate motor so no serious horsepower but i want to get the best possible shifts

MGW or Pro5.0 shifters. If you still aren't sure about the tranny, post up some decent pics of it. Most likely it'sa T5 unless someone before you swapped it out for a TKO or something else.
