Default RE: 2.73 or 3.08?

Looks like I have the 3.08 in my car. The AX is labeled as Z. Btw my car is a 5-speed. I guess I am one of the lucky ones?

Body - vr - mldg - int trim - tape - r - s - ax - tr
LX3 - - X - DJ - A - 9 - - Z - 2PPBB

Thanks for the help. Does anyone know what the "vr" and "s" are and why they are blank on my VIN plate?

I think if it came with an aod it would have the higher gears in it originally. i don't think aod's came with 2:73 but i could be wrong.
Mine had 2.73's with an AOD. I read the tag on the rearend.

90LXStang. The VR and S codes are for Convertable top and color (VR) and sunroof (S). Our 93 was a 5 spd 3.08. Its got 3.73s now.

I live in orange county, ca all we have is freeways. I'm at about 2600 at 80mph. It's fine and with my drag radials I can launch/beat on anything (just about). If you plan on doing bigger mods (s/c, turbo or more then a 75 shot of nitrous) then I wouldn't recomend them. 3.55 are a good all around gear.
