I have an old distributor that I gutted, just the housing and the shaft, works like a champ and you dont have to worry about the shaft wobbling

i was told that just dumping some oil under the valve covers and a bit into each spark plug hole would be enough for the initial startup....

i'm sure you guys will prove me wrong though...

I've always used a 3/8's impact connected to a 1/4 drive extension w/ a 1/4 socket no problem. If the socket falls off there no way its going to fall past the oil pump shaft so you can pull it out with a magnetic wand.

I've tried it both ways, both ways worked and didn't mess anything up.

That won't prime up your lifter, oil the bearings, etc etc.

I used my Dewalt 18V and 2 long screwdriver extentions. I put them together and then put the screwdriver end in the drill so the connector end was out....stuck that into the oil pump DS. I put it on the low speed/hi tq setting and that took care of it. If you have a ****ty drill, it'll run your batteries down quick, BTW....
