RE: Can I pass emissions wo/ cats?
wow. im getting tired of replying to the same post topic.....dude, i see you are from maryland. go to an inspection station and ask about the EMMISION EXEMPT status of your state. here in pa if you drive your car less than 5k miles per year, your are exempt fromemmisions. that means i can drive around w/o cats andits legal as long as i am exempt...what i used to do b4 i got a daily beater for work was to remove the speedo gear from the transafter like 2-3k miles after the most recent insp.your speedometer will be dead but so willyour odometer. just get a feel for what your rpm's are at different speeds.then you can have a rough guesstimate of how fast you are going. then i would reconnect it right b4 you bring it back 4 the next insp. as long as your car has 5k or less when they run your vin, youll get a nice EXEMPT sticker and can run straight pipes if u want....

I knew a guy who had two engines for his VW Beetle...one for performance (laugh) andh the other for emissions...he would swap when he was due for inspection.

there are people who pass with no cats.... there was just a huge thread about this yesterday.
anyway, just make sure that you dont pay for an h pipe with cats because like posted above catted h pipe are over double the price of a uncatted pipe... dont get scammed!
