RE: Clutch problems??????
sorry dime i was talking on the phone when i told u to ask about the pilot bearing... if it doesn't go in gear with the car off then the pilot bearing wouldn't have ne thing to do with it...
ok so i realy don't have to many ideas of what this could be since the tranny stayed in the car...
the only things i can think of was that when pulling or putting the tranny it you smacked the input shaft on accident (may not of noticed it) and if moved something internaly... orit sat a long time with outfluid in it...
if i'm this stumped good luck finding someone on here that can help you out... if i was actualy there and could see hear and feel what was happening then i might be a little more help...
your best bet it to take the car to a tranny shop and ask them to listen to it and see it they can tell you whats up with it. make sure you tell them the story about swaping the motor but leaving the tranny in..... and for future reference the tranny should be dropped too, to avoid it being damaged durring the removal/instalation of the motor...
i personaly think there is something missing from this story.. a tranny won't just go bad like this for no reason

RE: Clutch problems??????
SEARCH 95% (prolly more) of t-5's grind into reverse there isn't a syncro for it... put it in 1st or 5th before using reverse and it won't grind anymore

RE: Clutch problems??????
yea, ****s got me stumped... and seein that i no a decent bit about these trannys that sucks, lol. even worse, gt94coupe is my go to tranny guy, lol. so if hes lost too, like he said, i dont think ur gonna get an answer any better then what the two of us have suggested/thought. hes right, take it to a tranny place, explain everything u told us and let them see/feel/hear it them selves...
my only guess is what gt94coupe said... maybe the input shaft got hit or pulled on or something, and fuked sumthing up inside.
and yup, no syncro for Reverse. throw it in a forward gear 1st, then reverse=no more grinding lol.
