Default suspension problems/questions

hey, ive been told that suspension plays a huge role in 1/4 mile times, even that the propper suspension can take up to 2 seconds off your time, well my problem lies here...currently my 94 gt rides like sh*t, it was lowered when i got it and i think the kid lowered it by just cutting the springs[:@] i was thinkin about coil overs, but complete coil over kits are expensive and was wonderin what parts are needed from the coil over kits to reduce the bouncing of my car (it jumps around like its on a trampoline over every bump) and improve the ride while still keeping it lowered, secondly what other parts out of these: tubular k member, tubular a arm, upper and lower control arms, and an extreme matrix sub frame kit, or other parts for suspension you might know would make the car quicker in the 1/4 mile...thanks alot for any help, im a newb in need of a little advice before a big investment

suspension can take up to 2 seconds off your time
maybe half a second if you have a good setup, definately not 2 seconds.

you shouldnt blow all your money in suspension. unless you are making 500 HP you wont need a new K-member IMO. To help smooth out your ride get a set of good sport shocks and keep your stock springs. you should get subframes and tubular control arms if you want to REALLY feel the difference. but other than basic mods you wont need to over do it.

Actually Duke, if your lookin for quicker 1/4 mile times, lowering isnt the answer. Most lowering springs are made to prevent weight transfer so you get better/quicker cornering. If you want a good 1/4 suspension, go with a Steeda or Eibach drag suspension set up. You can buy them in kits where they come with Airbags and everything. These springs allow weight distribution to go the rears under hard acceleration. Dont forget to get the properly adjusted shocks so you can throw that weight to the rears.

and if ya remove your front swaybar that will help with your weight transfer but i would not recomend it if the car is your daily driver

get some good subframe connectors, you will be amazed at how they stiffen the chassis and minimize twist on hard accleration.
the Eibach drag springs are also a good mod and anything you do to lighten up the front end will help weight tranfer to the rear on hard acceleration too. some good aftermarket upper and lower rear control arms with poly bushings are also a good mod too.

thanks for all the help guys, this is what i got from what you said and my research on the products, let me know your opinions on this as it will cost a little but, in my attempt to have a better ride overall with less bouncing (this mustang is a daily driver), and quicker quarter mile time (at least somewhat) i decided on the eibach drag launch springs, bilstein heavy duty front struts and bilstein heavy duty rear shocks ( in hopes to improve ride quality) steeda adjustable rear lower control arms with spherical bushings and steeda heavy duty adjustable rear upper control arms and steeda full-length subframe connectors...my question is do you think there are better choices for any of the parts i listed? (maybe tokico shocks and struts or aluminum instead of adjustable control arms???) and will any of these mods make the cars suspension ride worse, which from what ive gathered i think is a no, but it never hurts to ask, thanks again for all the replys, guys answered my questions and then some

actually i take that back on the shocks and struts, the more i look at them the more the tokico illumina 5-way adjustable front struts and matching rear shocks the more they seem like the better way to go
