First mustang, what a cream puff!
Last week, I picked up my first mustang. It is a 93 LX 5.0; absolutely mint. 100K and garage kept it's entire life. I dropped all the fluids the first day, and she runs great. I just wanted to see if this is normal. At startup it revs to about 2K for a minute before idle. Is this the choke kicking on since it is so cold in NY? Thanks

Sweet pick up man, u gotta post some pics, and welcome to the forums! [8D]
What did ya mean by you dropped all the fluids? You mean you changed them ? Thats a good idea, as well as a basic tuneup. On start up the car is in a open loop, meaing A/F ratio is constant, and the computer runs on base settings, once the motor reaches about 200* operating temp a closed loop takes over and the car changes settings based on driving conditions, o2 sensor reading, maf sensor, egr, etc. Heres a link to verify/adjust theproper settingsfor your idle...IDLE

Yep mine does the same thing in the cold. However, at one point it was doing something similar (idling at about 2k) during warm weather. Turns out it was a bad throttle positioning switch which was an easy fix. Good luck with your new ride. Mod the hell out of it!
