Sorry...another exhaust hp gain Q
I know some of you may be tired as hell of this type of question, but I was asked this earlier by a friend and didn't really know the answer. He asked what my header-back exhaust added to my car in terms of HP. I have BBK equal length shorties, BBK O/R x-pipe and flowmaster american thunder mufflers all on a stock motor. I would guess somewhere in the ballpark of 20rwhp? Then again I don't know as much as a lot of the rest of you guys. BTW it's on a 5-speed

They did a full header back exhaust on a 5.0 on one of those programs on spike tv and gained like 15-20 rwhp with full exhaust. I can't remember how much exactly. It's more than 5.

RE: Sorry...another exhaust hp gain Q
in the jan. 07 issue of 5.0 mustang and fast fords they took a mustang that was close to stock 5.0 and returned it to stock formand dynoed it. It dynoed at 202 hp and 286 ft lbs of torque at the wheel.
they added a direct replacment k&n filter and mesh screen removed out of the mass air unitand picked it up to 207hp/289ftlbs. at the wheels
turned the timing up to 16 deg. and got 211hp/293ftlbs. at the wheels
then they took that off and added a k&N open cone filter and went up to 213hp/295ftlbs. at the wheels
then they added
bassani bx headers
bassani off-road x-pipe
bassani mufflers w/turndowns
professional products 75mm throttle body and egr
lightning 90 mm mass air meter with load tuner
anderson power pipe
and got 233hp/305ftlbs. at the wheels..... there doing more in future issues to show what hp numbers you get with more mods..
the article was called 5.0 flash back
now i know they did more to it then headers, hpipe and mufflers(but not much more)but they picked up 31 hp to the rear wheels.... headers, hpipe, and mufflers should at least get you 10-20rear wheel hp which is noticable hp.... go ahead add throttle body, cold air intake, bigger mass air, bump timing up,and see pretty much the same results as they did.....

RE: Sorry...another exhaust hp gain Q
HP tv did similar mods on a bone stock (by bone stock, I mean exactly that). They did full exhaust, tune up, bumped the timing, and CAI (IIRC) and went from 190rwhp to 224rwhp.
