Default Engine Components???

I am looking to bore my 302 to a 306, and i am wondering what type of internals should i get. I have 3000 for my budget. I am getting a set of AFR 185. which that leaves me with 1700 left. Any suggestions???

Justtake your motor out, buy new pistons and cam or whatever, have a machine shop freshen it up, and shortblock it for you. Stock rods and crankshould be fine, your block willbreak before they do.(That's the usualconsensus around here) Then pop on your heads, rockers pushrods, and intake yourself. You'll have done a HCI on your new rebuilt block. Probably cost you around 3,000 give or take a few hundred.

what do you have planned down the road. do you need forged internals? if not stock rods ,crank, will take 400hp. but if your going juice or psi, youll need forged and that will take most all the rest of your budget.

Take that 1700 and get a 347 kit (hyper pistons if you won't ever boost/spray it). The 185's and a 347 will melt your face off....not really, but it'll be a great motor.
