Cams are fairly inexpensive, the stage one Trick Flow is a great cam for $150 and a used Cobra or Trick Flow can be had for $250.

Yeah +1 on the used intake, i'd see no problem there IMO, As for the cam, dont buy a used one unless its been regrounded

Why not use a used cam? Generally, a roller cam will not wear unless there is an oiling problem, or it has a rediculious amount of miles on it. A big thing in the Thunderbird/Cougar scene is taking the cam, heads, and intake from a 5.0 mustang, and using them to convert the SO 5.0 to an HO, and there hasnt been a single problem with the used cam.
