replacing plugs on this car are a breeze. do it yourself really. it will take you about 20 minutes. just mark your wires or do one at a time so you remember the order. save your 100 bucks and put it towards something better. dont be intimidated by this, its super simple

RE: Spark Plug Question
also, i have a broken egr sensor, not valve, but sensor. I talked to dave from tuffys auto center and there saying i should have diagnostics done on the car to find out exactly what the problem is, and then they can solve it. Instead of guessing "plugs, nope thats not it, maf, nope thats not it, sensor, nope" etc. Diagnostics cost like 70bucks for the first hour. Do you guys think this sounds like a better plan then replacing random parts?

RE: Spark Plug Question
u can go to autozone and get a diagnostic (code scanner) done on ur car for free.. or u can even buy one for like $40 i think.. its not gunna be like a shop scanner tho
most stealerships/private shops will charge around $90 to scan ur car for codes.. its a rip off.. all they are doing are pushing buttons on a computer.

RE: Spark Plug Question
i'm telling you, get rid of the platinums. the EEC-IV ignition system is not compatible with platinum plugs. period.
Your EVP sensor is probably showing EGR movement when the computer knows that it shouldn't be moving. A trick to cure this, remove the sensor, and on a grinding wheel or with a file, shave a millimeter or two off of the pintle. this will allow the pintle to extend fully and not be blocked by carbon deposits, thus providing accurate readings again.

RE: Spark Plug Question
all you need to do is run a jumper in the self test connecter and the check engine light will flash your codes. from there we can help you.
its your choice to listen to me or not. a set of 8 autolite #25's will cost you like $14, and it will fix your problem.
