RE: Car died mid drive
There definately needs to be some standardization of our terms here.....
Crank/no start means the starter moves the engine but it does not start
No crank means the starter motor doesn't even move.
If you are crank/no starting - use a little ether in the throttle body and try again. If you are testing spark with a wire tester and have no spark at all (it should be able to jump a half an inch) - the Ignition module is not getting a PIP signal from the Pickup Coil. This is in the distributor andI would recommend you just get a whole new distributor. This is fishing with dynamite so to speak, but if you have miles on your car its really worth the $. Not to mention it's a good idea if you are in the process of building a toy.
If it fires (starts or tries to start) on ether - you are getting spark but either have bad gas, a really bad temp input, or possibly a PCM that is not getting PIP and consequently not providing pulse to the injectors.
Perhaps too coincidental that this happened after a fillup, butperhaps not........

RE: Car died mid drive
Well It is finally fixed. It was the distributor. A small tiny piece of metal from inside the distributor itself from underneath the rotor. If I knew the technical name for it I would describe it but basically the rotor would turn but the metal disc underneath the rotor wasnt making contact. I called up ford, and a few of my fellow mechanic buds and none of them ever heard or seen that happen before, No wonder it escaped me .ThankfullyI had a spare distributor in the garage and it turned right over. Thanks for the advice guys, i probably would have wasted alot of time looking elsewhere.
P.S. Now that i got the new distributor in, what should I set my timing at? I have it at 12 degrees at the moment.

I had the same problem, died while i was driving my anderson ford power pipe relocates the mass air in the fender well and the pipe rubbed the redwire on the MAFwhich has the same power supply asthe fuel pump. It ended up being a fuse link.
