Default odd wear on rear drums

I just took apart the rear drums on my 91 gt and noticed that the leading pad was nearly down to the metal on the top half while the bottom half has about a quarter inch left. the rear pad is evenly warn. why would it wear so unevenly?

B/c the leading, called the primary shoe takes the brunt of the stopping action. The reason it is worn more on the top portion is b/c when the wheel cylinder pushes the shoes outward, it pushes outward on the top of the shoe, thus wearing it out faster in that area.

I would also grease your adjuster and look at buying a new spring kit

I'd agree, more then likely your hardware is a little worn out.
