What did you do about this problem... having the same problem with a new engine in a 92 vert LX 5.0. Just put in a 351 but the steering rod is rubbing a header. The guy who put it in grinded the rod but it is still a problem. Any suggestions?? Thanks for the help.

Are the current mounts new? I shimmed my drivers side mount under the stud to frame part and solved the problem. I think I posted this in your last thread too.

Edit, just checked, it must have been someone elses. I've posted it so often, I forget where!

How bad is the rub? If it is not too bad, a few well placed swings with the ball peen hammer will give you a little bit. I'm not saying beat the crap out of it and smash the tube shot, but a little dimple will not affect flow , and may give you the clearance you need.

I had the same problem. I swiched the motor mounts out with convertible mounts and it solved the problem

Even my boss said his hit when he put in LTs. Mine didn't at all and I have BBK 1-3/4" LTs, Then again like stated above, I put in convertible engine mounts. He on the other hand put in a smaller u-joint in the shaft to get clearance.
