update on fuel pump problems....

RE: update on fuel pump problems....
I tried the paper clip trick, no go. I am gettin power up to that connecter that plugs into the inertia switch, just nothing after that. Tomorrow I think I'ma just splice those 2 wires that go into the inertia switch.

well the relay powers the switch and then the pump, so once you get that circuit completed, it should work. if not, the pump is probably dead, or the ground is screwed up.

yea, well like I said I think I'll jsut try splicin them to get a good connection and just go without the inertia switch. If that doesn't work then I'll have to look for bad ground or I guess drop the tank and get to work on the pump.

if your not getting power to the pump, why would you tank him out the tank?
when you go to turn your car to the on position(all lights light up) does your CEL LIGHT COME ON or when you go to turn it a little more to start?
this is a very simple setup and easier then it looks to you.

not sure if the CEL comes on. What are you tryin to say with that diagram exactly? I have power all the way back to the inertia switch, then nothin after that.

RE: update on fuel pump problems....
you see if the old relay went south you need to
1.check the 2 fuses to see if the old blew them OR PARTIALLY BLEW EM.
2. while key in the on position and u hear a click noise at the passenger side area, you need to repalce the eec power relay and its the same relay you bought for fuel pump.
3. if you have no cel, key on / turned a little more to illuminate the cel, let me know
I need to know, is where you see power and where it stops. KEEP YOUR KEY in the on position to get power to EVERYTHING.
*.you see the fuel pump relay is dependent upon the EEC relay, which is dependent upon your ignition switch, earlier you said power was somewhere but only briefly , just let me know everything. the power stays on.

for future note, using a test light is not a good method in electrical diagnosis, that thing can be lighting up at 8 volts and screwing us. make sure your battery is fully charged as well, dont want 2 issues

RE: update on fuel pump problems....
battery is brand new fully charged. You said a click sounds at the passenger side...before my fuel pump stopped working I was having an issue where I would turn the key to start, it would click and then I'd lose power to everything, no lights, nothign. I went adjusted the terminals and the wires where a lil loose in the terminals, that seemed to fix it, could that have been anything though? I'll have to check tomorrow to see if the CEL comes on. Like I said, I'm gettin power all the way up to the inertia switch, nothin after that.

RE: update on fuel pump problems....
heres the deal, as the diagram shows, if your getting power all the way to the inertia switch and not at the fuel pump terminal,
you need to verify the power has not stopped once you left one spot to check the other location first.
if youve verified this trully, just run new wiring in accordance to the diagram, solder and heat shrink tubing.
check the terminals again, and ground your battery wire to the air conditioning bracket bolt.
its gonna come to you as far as what the heck happened pretty soon.
