machining only needs to be done with boreing, only if you try to stroke a 302 to like a 358 or something, you may need to clearance the block.
you need to notch the block for a 347....

Are you sure? I'm not arguing since I've never built one or ordered one. I've just heard that clearancing the block for the crank is necessary on a 342/347, but not a 327/331.

Ok so some works does need to be done in some cases, does any need to be done to make a 351 a 408?

Gsp, I have this book called Mustangs on a budget. They build a 331 and mention it needs to be notched. I do think it depends on what rods your using, and im sure it wouldnt take much grinding. But in most cases Id say yeah it needs some machining.

Making a 351 a 408 is the same deal.
