NHRA helmet rules...anyone know??
I have been looking and accually called the track, but they weren't sure either. I need to get a new helmet for racing because my track follows NHRA rules. They state you helmet has to be SA2000 or SA2005 and a few others, but anyways I have found a few different helmets, but they are M2000 or M2005. Would those be ok..are they the same? I don't wanna spend $300 on a helmet....anyone who is a circuit drag racer and knows, chime in please!!!

i'm not sure what the rating means, but me and my roomate goto norwalk (one of the top 3 NHRA tracks in the counrty) and he just uses a full face motorcycle helmet, and just takes the face shield off...

That is what I used last year...the rules changed now and they pretty specific.
THE SNELL 90 & 95 HELMET WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED. YOU MUST USE THE SNELL RATED K98-
2000, 2005 OR SFI 31.1 - 31.2 - 31.1A - 31.2 - 31.1 2005- 41.1 - 41.2 - 41.2A - OR 41.1 2005.
THESE RULES ARE IN THE 2007 NHRA RULE BOOKS. PLEASE CHECK YOU HELMETS. IF YOUR HELMET
DOES NOT HAVE A TAG WHEN YOU COME TO TECH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN. NOW IS THE
TIME TO CHECK HELMETS.

ME TOO!![&:] I don't wanna get dicked out of racing and the cash of getting not a good enough helmet...and I don't wanna spend a fortune either

Then what is a SA2000 or SA2005? The 2000 will be good till 2010 and the 2005 will be good till 2012. Is a M2000/M2005 legal? Or if it says 2000 or 2005 I will be good?
